Wintersweet Growth Environment and ConditionsWintersweet has strong adaptability and is planted in both the north and south of my country. Wintersweet likes to grow in an environment with sufficient light, but is also shade-tolerant. It is not demanding on the soil, but is most suitable for growing in loose, fertile, deep, well-drained slightly acidic soil. Wintersweet has a strong ability to withstand cold and it will bloom in frost and snow. Wintersweet grows wild in Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Henan, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and other places. It is cultivated in Guangxi, Guangdong and other provinces and regions. It grows in mountain forests and has been introduced for cultivation in Japan, North Korea, Europe and America. Wintersweet growing conditionsWintersweet likes to grow in an environment with sufficient light, but it is also shade-tolerant. When planting wintersweet, it is best to place the plant in an environment with good ventilation and sufficient light. If the light is too strong, the plant needs to be properly shaded. Wintersweet growth temperatureThe suitable temperature for wintersweet to grow is 16-23 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature cannot be lower than 10 degrees Celsius. Wintersweet is a plant that is relatively resistant to high temperatures and can grow at around 35 degrees Celsius. Growth process of wintersweetWintersweet blooms first and then grows leaves. The fruits can be harvested when they turn yellow in July and August. The seeds are taken out and dried and stored until sowing in February or March of the following spring. They should be covered with 4 to 5 cm of soil. After the seedlings emerge in April, management should be strengthened and there is no need for shade. The seedlings grow slowly and are only 10 to 15 cm in height. They will sprout after 2 to 3 years and generally begin to bloom after 5 to 6 years. Wintersweet planting time and methodThe planting of wintersweet flowers is usually carried out in February and March in spring, or in July and August in autumn. If you buy wintersweet seedlings on the market, you can plant them after the leaves fall and until the spring budding period. This period is the most suitable and it is easy for them to survive. Before sowing wintersweet seeds, they need to be germinated. They can be soaked in warm water for about 24 hours, then put in a box for germination. Prepare suitable loam, evenly sow them on the soil, and wait for 15-20 days for them to germinate. |
