Dahlia is a perennial plant. Dahlia seeds will germinate about 5-7 days after sowing. The growth cycle of dahlia is about 8 months. It is most suitable to plant dahlia seeds in March and April in spring. They can also be planted in autumn from September to November because the germination speed of seeds is relatively fast during this period.

How to grow dahlia seeds

1. Seed selection: Select healthy and plump seeds, then wash them in clean water. After the seeds are fully absorbed by water, they can be used for sowing.

2. Soil preparation: The soil for planting dahlias is generally loose, fertile, breathable and well-drained, and then the soil in the substrate should be watered thoroughly.

3. Sowing: Sprinkle the germinated dahlia seeds on the soil, and then cover them with soil that is three times thicker than the seeds.

Dahlia Seed Collection

Dahlias usually bloom in May, June and September to November. Dahlia seeds can usually be collected after the fruit is ripe. Remove the fruit from the outer tubular flower, then take out the seeds, dry them, and save them for use.
