Can the sweet potato seedlings be transplanted?

Both yam and sweet potato can be transplanted. In areas with a short frost-free period, the growing season of yam is also short. In order to have a longer growing period, seedling transplanting is required. The transplanted yam seedlings grow very fast and the yield will also increase.

Transplanting method of jicama seedlings

1. Planting

Sow directly by digging holes with hands on the seedbed. Generally, the plant spacing is 3 cm and the row spacing is about 5 cm. Sow directly and cover with 1 cm of soil. If sprouts have already appeared and there are many, the covering soil can be reduced. Water after sowing to moisten the soil tightly.

2. Management

After the seedlings emerge, if some are slow, you can wait until 50% of the seedlings emerge to check once. If rotten seeds are found, they need to be replanted. Replanting should be done on a cloudy day, and some light fertilizer and water should be applied in time to promote uniform seedlings. After the seedlings are all grown, harden the seedlings, apply enough fertilizer and water one week before transplanting, and water thoroughly before transplanting.

Precautions for transplanting sweet potato seedlings

1. Before germination, you can water with a small amount every three days to maintain 60% humidity. After germination, you can apply light fertilizer and water once to promote growth. Then apply fertilizer and water once every week until before flowering.

2. Do not water during the flowering period. Apply compound phosphorus and potassium fertilizers plus trace element fertilizers to assist in the transition to reproductive growth.

3. During the expansion period, a large amount of water is needed to maintain the moisture content of the roots and transport the nutrients produced by the leaves. You can water it every 5 days, but if the soil is dry, generally keep the soil surface below 2 cm moist.
