How to save corn seeds

Corn Seed Introduction

Corn has seeds. The maturity period of corn seeds is about 120 days, which is the time from planting corn to harvesting. Corn seeds are very small and granular. The new seeds look very shiny and have a full shape. They are basically the same size. There are many types of corn seeds.

How to save corn seeds

The seeds of corn are on the "body" of corn, and corn grows on stalks. The endosperm of mature grains is yellow or white, while the seed coat and endosperm are colorless and transparent.

First, dry the corn that has just been harvested, and then dry the peeled corn kernels again. This will turn them into corn seeds, which can be used for sowing next year. Store the dried corn seeds in a glass jar and seal it with desiccant.

Corn seed propagation

Corn seeds can be sown. The planting time of corn should be determined according to the region. Different regions have different climates and the planting time is also different. In Shandong area, it should be planted around April each year so that the corn can grow better. If it is in Hebei area, autumn corn is mostly planted. It is planted in mid-July and can be harvested around late October. In the south, it is planted around March.

Corn seed planting method

1. Land preparation: Before sowing, the land needs to be prepared in advance. There should not be too many large pieces of soil in the land, and some base fertilizer should be applied to it.

2. Purchasing seeds: The moisture and purity of the seeds you purchase must be good, and the size must be full and uniform, so that they can germinate and grow better after sowing.

3. Sowing: In most cases, the purchased corn seeds do not need to be germinated and can be sown directly. The depth of sowing should be shallow, about 3-5cm.
