Mint Growth Conditions

Mint is generally more suitable for growing in a humid environment, prefers a warm environment, has good shade tolerance, and has good adaptability to the environment. Usually, the production areas of mint are mainly concentrated in Jiangsu and Anhui.

The most suitable growth temperature for mint is around 20-30 degrees. Mint has a certain degree of cold resistance, especially the rhizome part, which has the best cold resistance. Generally, the lowest temperature it can withstand is around minus 2 degrees. If it is lower, the mint plant will wither.

Mint Growth Period and Process

Mint generally grows in humid places at an altitude of 3,500 meters. Generally, mint begins to grow in the summer. The leaves will slowly grow out in early summer in May, and the fruits will be produced in October in autumn.

Mint goes through the stages of germination, flowering and fruiting during its entire growth cycle. Mint generally blooms in the summer from July to September. During the growth period, mint needs to receive long-term sunlight to grow normally.

Mint Planting Process and Methods

1. Planting time: Mint is usually planted in spring and autumn because the climate is warmer during these two periods.

2. Soil selection: Choose loose, fertile soil rich in humus and organic matter for planting. The soil can be a mixture of garden soil, humus and river sand.

3. Planting: Select mint branches with good growth, then cut about 10 cm, disinfect and dry them, and plant them in the soil. Regular watering is required for later maintenance.
