Cultivation method of jackfruit seeds

Jackfruit is a delicious tropical fruit , and many people want to try growing jackfruit trees after tasting it. In fact, the seeds left over from meals can be planted into potted plants at home. So what are the specific cultivation methods? Let’s learn more about it below.

1. Seed selection

The first step is to choose healthy seeds that look relatively full, so as to ensure the survival rate of the seeds.

2. Seed treatment

Soaking the seeds in warm water for 24 to 48 hours will help stimulate germination. If conditions permit, disinfection can also be carried out, usually by soaking in a carbendazim solution.

3. Appropriate germination

Wrap the treated seeds in moist sphagnum moss or vermiculite, maintain a certain humidity, and place them in a warm environment to promote seed germination. Under suitable conditions, the seeds will produce roots and sprouts in about 10-15 days.

4. Soil selection

During the germination period, pay attention to observe the roots carefully. When the roots grow to 1-2 cm, they can be transplanted into the soil. You can choose soil that is well-drained and rich in organic matter. You can use the usual garden soil and mix it with an appropriate amount of coal slag soil. Of course, you can also buy nutrient soil directly online.

5. Seeding and transplanting

Sow the seeds in the soil, cover with about 2 cm of soil, and keep the soil moist. When the jackfruit tree grows to a certain height and its root system begins to expand, you can consider transplanting it into a larger container or directly into an outdoor garden. During the transplanting process, special attention should be paid to protecting the root system and avoiding root damage to ensure the survival rate of the seedlings.

6. Post-maintenance

After the jackfruit seeds are planted, you must make sure that it can receive sufficient sunlight. At the same time, you must also pay attention to watering. When watering, pour it from the edge of the pot, and not directly on the seeds, so as not to cause the seeds to rot. When applying fertilizer, generally choose organic fertilizer , and apply it once every 1-2 months.

In general, when planting jackfruit potted plants, you can usually use seeds . Take out the seeds from the ripe jackfruit, peel off the thin skin on the surface, clean the surface with clean water, then put them in clean water to germinate, and wait until the seeds have white buds, they can be sown.
