Is the cashew yield high? What is the yield per mu?

Is cashew nut production high?

The yield of cashew nuts is not high. They mainly grow in tropical areas. Each tree can produce relatively few fruits. They can bear fruit three years after planting. The yield per mu ranges from 200 to 600 kilograms. Nowadays, varieties such as FL-30 are relatively high-yielding.

How to grow cashews for high yield

1. Choose a planting site

Cashews are best grown in areas below 400 meters above sea level. They do not have high requirements for soil and can grow well in red soil and sand and gravel. The annual sunlight time must be more than 2,000 hours. They will start to bear fruit three years after planting.

2. Layering

After the cashews are planted, layering should be carried out. The time can be chosen in April or November, and they can be separated from other trees after about 45 days.

3. Plastic and pruning

After the cashew tree is grown, it can be pruned, mainly to adjust the structure of the crown and improve the ventilation and light transmission of the tree. The principle is to use light pruning rather than heavy pruning, so as to increase the cashew fruit setting rate and achieve the goal of increasing production.

4. Fertilization management

Although cashew trees are resistant to barrenness, cashews grown in poor soil have almost no yield, so mature fruit trees must be fertilized in a timely manner. When fertilizing, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizers should be used as the main fertilizers. Proper fertilization can increase the total yield and kernel yield.
