How long is the growth cycle of papaya?

Introduction to Papaya Growth

Papaya likes a warm, humid and sunny environment. It is relatively cold-resistant but not drought-resistant. It is not demanding on soil, but prefers places with deep, fertile and well-drained soil. It is mostly cultivated in Xinjiang, and there are also small distributions in Shandong, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei, Guangdong, Guangxi, Shaanxi and other provinces and regions.

Soil. Papaya has a wide adaptability to soil, but it grows better in sandy soil that is deep, loose, fertile, well-drained, and rich in organic matter. It should not be planted in low-lying areas to avoid root rot.

Water. Papaya likes a semi-dry and semi-wet environment. The soil needs to be kept dry before and after the flowering period. If the soil is too wet, the flowering period will be short. After the fruit is produced, the soil needs to be kept moist. If the soil is dry, the fruit will easily fall.

Light: Papaya prefers an environment with plenty of sunlight and is not shade-tolerant. The planting site needs to be selected in a windproof and sunny place, but it should not be exposed to direct sunlight to avoid withering of the leaves.

It takes 3-4 months for papaya to bear fruit and mature, and the fruiting period is September to October.

Papaya growth rate

First, select high-quality seeds and sow them. The seeds will then germinate. When the seedlings grow up, they can be transplanted. When the plants are fully formed, they will bloom. After the flowering period, the plants will bear fruit. The fruit is green when it is not ripe, and turns yellow when ripe. It can be harvested when it is fully ripe.

Papaya grows fast.

Papaya Growth Cycle Management

If papaya is properly cared for and the temperature is suitable, one tree will produce about 60 to 100 kilograms. If 120 trees are planted in one acre of land, the yield will be around 7,200 kilograms.

Temperature management: Papaya prefers a warm and humid environment and has average cold resistance. Its roots and trunks need to be protected from the cold in winter, otherwise the seedlings will easily freeze to death.

Fertilization management: When planting papaya, you need to pay attention to the application of base fertilizer, so as to ensure the fertility of the soil. Afterwards, you can apply topdressing before flowering and when fruiting. Water after fertilizing, or directly dissolve it in water and apply it.
