What to do if hyacinth is pinched by an arrow

What to do if hyacinth is pinched by an arrow

1. Reasons

1. Low temperature

Hyacinthus generally needs a temperature above 17°C to bloom. If the temperature is too low and the inflorescence has already appeared, the flowers will bloom in color under the influence of strong light. Because the temperature is too low, the flower stems cannot stretch normally, and the arrow will be pinched.

2. The cold treatment time is not enough

If the cold treatment time is not enough, the flower stems will find it difficult to extend after the flowers bloom, and the arrow will be pinched.

3. Peel off old skin frequently

The nutrients of hyacinth are stored in the scale leaves. After peeling off the old skin, the new scale leaves will age again, the bulb will easily become smaller, the plant will lack nutrients inside, and it will not bloom.

2. Solution

1. Shading

Using shading can promote the elongation of flower stems and thus get rid of the dilemma of being pinched by leaves. However, this method is not very effective for hyacinths that have already bloomed.

2. Adjustment and maintenance

According to the specific situation, appropriately increase the temperature, add water and fertilizer, avoid water accumulation, and appropriately increase the time of diffuse light exposure. If that doesn't work, you can also use arrowroot.
