How to change the soil of rubber tree

When to change the soil of rubber tree

It is suitable to repot the rubber tree between March and April in spring. It grows fast and generally needs to be repotted once every two years. New soil needs to be prepared before repotting, and the new pot and new soil need to be sterilized with carbendazim. During repotting, the rotten and old roots of the plant need to be trimmed. After repotting, the plant should be placed in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance.

It is not recommended to repot the rubber tree due to the high temperatures in summer, because repotting now can easily cause the leaves to wither and turn yellow. It is best to repot in spring.

When should rubber trees be transplanted?

The rubber tree is a tall tree, so do not repot it in autumn or winter because it blooms in autumn and bears fruit in winter. Generally, you only need to repot and change the soil in March, April or May after flowering.

Rubber tree soil changing method

1. Before repotting the rubber tree, you can water the soil in the pot so that the dry soil can be easily poured out. Be careful when removing the pot to avoid damaging the roots. After pouring out, you can clean the soil around the roots properly.

2. The soil for the rubber tree can be ordinary flower nutrient soil, or it can be mixed with pine needle soil, garden soil and river sand, or it can be mixed with leaf mold, garden soil, river sand and base fertilizer, which is beneficial to its growth.

3. Fill the bottom of the new flowerpot with new soil and add an appropriate amount of nutrients to the soil, which will be beneficial to the growth of the rubber tree.

4. Move the rubber tree and the soil into a new pot, then stabilize it and fill it with new soil around the plant. Press it down gently, water it thoroughly, and move it to a cool and ventilated place for maintenance. It usually takes 4-5 days for the roots to grow.

Precautions for changing soil for rubber trees

1. Pruning : For trees that have been removed from pots, prune old roots, and cut away any dead roots to leave space for new roots to grow. Disinfect the pruning wounds with wood ash, and also prune the main stems and branches, either by cutting the trunk or combing out branches that are too dense.

2. Potting : When potting the rubber tree, first put a layer of coarse sand at the bottom of the pot, then use decomposed cake fertilizer or decomposed sheep dung balls as base fertilizer, and finally fill with soil. When planting, be sure to compact the soil to prevent air voids.

3. Soil : When potting rubber trees, it is best to use loose, permeable soil with good drainage. The soil should also contain certain nutrients. Do not use sticky and thick soil, which is not conducive to the growth of its roots.
