How to grow lantern flower

Farming methods

Temperature and light

The suitable temperature for the growth of lantern flower is approximately between 15-25℃. Avoid high temperatures in summer. When the temperature exceeds 30℃, the plant will enter a semi-dormant state. In winter, the room temperature should be kept above 10℃ and the temperature must not be lower than 5℃, otherwise frost damage will easily occur.

Lantern flowers prefer an environment with plenty of sunlight. If there is insufficient sunlight, it will easily cause the plant to grow too tall and the number of flowers will be greatly reduced. However, in the summer, appropriate shading is needed and the lantern flower plants should be moved to a ventilated and cool place to avoid long-term direct sunlight to prevent the leaves from curling.

Moisture

During the growing period, the soil in the pot should be kept moist, and the principle of "dry when dry and wet when wet" should be adhered to. During the flowering period of the lantern flower, the soil in the pot must not be too dry or too wet, otherwise it will easily cause buds, flowers or leaves to fall off. During the semi-dormant period in summer and in winter, watering needs to be controlled to prevent leaf shedding and root rot.

Fertilization

Lantern flowers like fertilizer, so apply enough organic fertilizer before planting. Since the lantern flower grows relatively fast and can bloom continuously, it should be applied with cake fertilizer water or thin liquid fertilizer every 7-10 days during the growing period. Nitrogen fertilizer should be controlled in the early growth stage, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be increased during the flowering period.

soil

The cultivation medium should be fertile, loose, breathable and well-drained sandy loam.

In spring, you can repot and change the soil. Pour out some of the soil, cut off the old roots appropriately, and choose a suitable flower pot. The soil should also be loosened appropriately in spring and autumn.
