How to grow yew in winter

Is yew afraid of freezing?

The suitable growth temperature for yew is 20-30℃. When the temperature of the growth environment is lower than 15 degrees, the growth of the plant will become slow, so it is not cold-resistant and is afraid of freezing.

There is no problem with yew as long as the temperature is above zero in winter, so as long as the plant is placed in a warm place for maintenance in winter, it can be ensured that it will not be frozen to death.

How to care for yew in winter

Environment : In winter, the yew should be placed in a well-ventilated and brightly lit place indoors, and windows should be opened more often for ventilation. In addition, because the yew grows very slowly after winter and its water demand decreases, it should not be watered too much. It is better to keep the soil dry, which is conducive to wintering.

Adequate light : In winter, the maintenance of yew trees requires sufficient light to promote full photosynthesis and maintain normal growth. Therefore, they need to be placed in a sunny place indoors for winter maintenance.

Appropriate fertilization : Fertilization of yew in winter should be carried out according to the actual growth environment temperature. When the temperature is higher than 15 degrees, fertilizer can be applied once a month. The best fertilizer is fermented organic fertilizer. When the temperature is lower than 15 degrees, stop fertilizing.

Sunbathing : In winter, yew trees can be exposed to the sun because the plant cannot grow without the sun, and the winter sun is relatively mild, so the plant can directly receive sunlight, which is conducive to wintering.

Precautions for growing yew in winter

1. It is very cold outside in the north in winter, so the yew tree should be moved indoors for maintenance. It should be placed in a well-lit location indoors. Also, water it less frequently and there must be no stagnant water.

2. When growing yew trees in winter, you must pay attention to taking warming measures in time, that is, you must move them indoors for maintenance before the temperature drops in winter. Moving them when the temperature is low may affect their growth or even cause death. In addition, you must also be careful not to water them too much to avoid waterlogging and root rot.
