How to maintain keel in winter

Is the keel afraid of freezing?

The optimum temperature for dragon bone flower is between 25 and 35 degrees. It is afraid of freezing and is not cold-resistant. The wintering temperature should be controlled at no less than 8 degrees.

Generally, when the weather is cold, cover the pot with a plastic bag and leave a small hole on it to allow ventilation. When the temperature is very low, cover it with a second layer of plastic bag and place it in a sunny south-facing place. At the same time, control watering and you don't have to water it for the entire winter.

How to maintain keel in winter

When raising dragon bones in winter, you need to control the indoor temperature. The temperature needs to be above 15 degrees for normal growth. It likes sunlight. It is best to let it receive sunlight all day in winter. The winter sunlight is very gentle and can also increase its temperature, which is conducive to its safe winter. Also pay attention to the amount of watering, and never too much.

1. Suitable soil

The soil for maintaining the keel must be loose, well-drained, humus-rich sandy soil, so that it can grow faster in the future. A mixed soil of perlite, expanded clay, and leaf mold can be selected as the cultivation medium.

2. Proper lighting

Dragon bones like plenty of sunlight. Generally, they will grow faster after being kept in the sun for a period of time. In winter, they must be kept in sufficient sunlight and can be exposed to full sunlight.

3. Control watering

In winter, the water demand of dragon bones is very low. Just keep the soil slightly moist and water it when the soil is completely dry. If the leaves are a little dry, you can use a watering can to spray water on the leaves to prevent root rot.

Precautions for breeding keel in winter

1. Before the keel is brought into the room in winter, it should be disinfected and sterilized in time to prevent the influence of diseases and pests.

2. In winter, the dragon bones can be exposed to the sun. Make sure there is sufficient sunlight. When the outdoor temperature is high, they can be placed directly outdoors in the sun.

3. If the temperature drops, just move the keel to a warm place indoors for maintenance, ensuring sufficient light conditions.
