Carnation seed sowing time

The germination temperature of carnation seeds is about 20 degrees, so the sowing time is different in different regions. In South my country, it is recommended to do it in spring, and in cold areas it is recommended to do it in August-September. The sowing temperature should not be too high or too low, and sowing must not be done in summer.

Carnation seed planting method and steps

1. Prepare the soil

Before sowing carnations, you should prepare flower pots. It is best to use pots with drainage holes and fill them with an appropriate amount of nutrient soil. The soil can be prepared by yourself or purchased directly. Good drainage is required.

2. Sowing

When sowing, you can use a toothpick. Dip the toothpick in water and stick the seeds on it. Then place it in the potting soil. The depth of the soil should be about 2-3 times the diameter of the seed. Cover it with a thin layer of soil. Don't plant it too shallowly. Be careful not to use your hands, otherwise the seeds will become moldy.

3. Maintenance and management

After sowing carnations, you can cover them with a black plastic bag, which is very helpful for seed germination and can also reduce water evaporation. You can poke a few small holes on it to enhance ventilation, and they will germinate in about half a month.

4. Post-maintenance

After germination, gradually increase the light according to the growth situation. If the light is very strong, take shade measures and keep the environment ventilated. Water thoroughly when the soil is dry. If the seedlings grow too densely, transplant some of them to avoid nutrient deficiency and affect growth.
