Carnation Growth Environment Conditions and Requirements

Carnation is a very common flower with rich colors. It generally grows in Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. It usually prefers to grow in a warm, humid and well-lit environment.

Carnation Growth Temperature

Carnations like warm environments. The most suitable growth temperature for carnations is around 14-21 degrees. They are sensitive to temperature. As long as the ambient temperature is higher than 35 degrees, the plants will enter a dormant state. Carnations are afraid of freezing, so when the temperature drops below 9 degrees, the plants will go dormant.

Carnation growth humidity

Carnations like a humid environment but are afraid of waterlogging. Generally, the soil can be kept moist during maintenance. When the climate is dry in summer, it is necessary to wipe the leaves frequently with a damp cloth, or spray water mist into the air.

Carnation growing soil

Carnations generally grow better when planted in fertile soil with good drainage, rich humus and good air permeability. Usually the best soil is acidic clay soil, so that the loss of fertility and water will be slower.

Carnation growth cycle and process

Carnations are usually planted by cuttings in January and February in spring. Buds will appear more than 5 months after planting and they will usually bloom from May to August. The flowering period is relatively long and can last for about 5 months, while a single flower will usually only bloom for about half a month.
