How to save carrot seeds

Carrot is also called big red radish, rouge radish, etc. Its seeds are not inside the carrot, but on the tassels of the plant. They are harvested after the plant blooms, and the seeds will appear inside the flower.

Late summer and early autumn are the time when carrot seeds mature. After the flowers of the plant fade, cut off the remaining flower branches from the base, then pick the fruits and wait until the seeds are ripe before picking them. Use tweezers to carefully remove them.

Carrot seed propagation

Carrot is a plant that can be propagated by seeds. The planting of this plant is generally divided into two crops, mostly in July and August in summer and February and March in spring. Seedlings will emerge 4-5 days after sowing. It takes about two and a half years from sowing to maturity.

How to Plant Carrot Seeds

1. Prepare soil

Carrots are more suitable for growing in soil with deep soil layers and good drainage. They also need good drainage conditions. The soil needs to be deep plowed before planting, and a certain amount of base fertilizer should be applied. You can choose decomposed organic fertilizer.

2. Seed germination

Before sowing, the carrot seeds should be soaked in warm water at 37°C, then taken out and dried. This will be more conducive to later germination.

3. Sowing

Before sowing carrots, make sure the surface of the soil is flat, then sprinkle the seeds evenly on it, then cover with 1.5 cm thick soil and keep the soil slightly moist.
