Golden pumpkin prefers a warm, sunny environment and is best planted in spring and autumn. The spring planting time is from January to March, using the seedling transplanting method. The autumn planting time is usually from July to August, using direct sowing.

1. Site selection and land preparation

Golden pumpkin is suitable for planting on loose, fertile land with good drainage and irrigation. To prevent water from being difficult to drain and causing waterlogging in the land, deep plowing should be done in advance, and then farmyard manure should be sprinkled as base fertilizer to improve soil fertility.

2. Sowing method

Choose a good quality pumpkin variety, select plump and healthy seeds, sterilize them in the sun, then soak them in warm water to germinate. After the seeds turn white, place 3 to 5 seeds in a hole at a certain interval in the prepared field, cover them with a layer of soil, then water them thoroughly to keep the soil moist.

Precautions for planting pumpkin

When the pumpkin seedlings grow to 2 meters, the top of the seedlings should be removed to allow it to grow more vines to increase the pumpkin yield. In addition, the pumpkin is a fertilizer-loving plant and can be fertilized after planting. Fertilizer is also needed when the vines grow to about 20 centimeters. The principle of frequent and thin application of fertilizers should be followed.
