How often should carnations be watered?

The watering interval of carnations is very different in different periods. Plants in the early stage of seedling growth should be watered less, and watered no more than twice a week after the soil is completely dry.

During its growth period, it needs sufficient water supply, the pot soil should be kept moist, and it can be watered once every 2-3 days. During the winter dormancy period, water can be stopped. If it is too dry, use a watering can to spray water to keep it moist.

The correct way to water carnations

1. After repotting, carnations need to go through a period of slow seedling growth. Do not water them too much at this time. Because their roots have not yet adapted to the new soil, too much water will not absorb the water and will easily cause root rot.

2. Carnations need to be watered adequately during their growth period. They need a lot of water at this time, and dry soil will lead to poor growth. Keep the pot soil moist for a long time.

3. When fertilizing carnations, do not water them too much to prevent the fertilizer from completely dissolving into the soil and burning the roots. You can use liquid fertilizer and dilute it with water. Water and fertilizer should be poured directly into the pot, and do not drip onto the leaves to avoid damaging the leaves.

Overwatering carnations

If you water it too frequently during maintenance and its rhizomes are completely soaked in water, it will cause the rhizomes to rot, the root absorption capacity will be reduced, and the leaves will become yellow due to lack of nutrients.

First, remove it from the pot, then cut off the yellow leaves and rotten roots, then plant it in a new soil layer that is easy to store water, and then move the pot to a cool and ventilated place for maintenance. Reduce the amount of watering, and water it again after the soil in the pot is completely dry.
