Can figs be transplanted in winter?

Figs have weak cold resistance and cannot be transplanted in winter. The survival rate is very low. Fig trees are best transplanted in spring and autumn each year. The temperature in these two seasons is suitable, and transplanting is not during the flowering and fruiting period to avoid fig fruit drop. In addition, transplanting causes less damage to the plants and has a higher survival rate.

Fig winter transplanting method

1. Bring your soil with you

When transplanting fig trees, be sure to plant them with the soil clumps around them. Never break up the soil clumps around the roots, otherwise the roots of the plants will be damaged, which will easily cause the fig seedlings to fail to grow and die, reducing the survival rate.

2. Transplanting method

When transplanting figs, remove the fruit tree from the original pot, or dig it out from the original planting site, then transplant the fig with the soil into the soil, compact the soil with your feet, and water it thoroughly until there is water left at the bottom of the pot.

Fig transplanting precautions

When figs are just planted, they need appropriate shade and protection from direct sunlight. For potted plants, move the plants to a cool and ventilated place and let them grow for 3-5 days. For ground plants, pull a shade net over the plants and remove it after a week. Gradually increase the light intensity, keep the environment ventilated, and prevent the occurrence of diseases and pests.
