How to prune anthurium

How to prune anthurium

The purpose of pruning anthurium is to make its entire shape neat and tidy, and proper pruning can also reduce its consumption of nutrients in the soil, allowing the branches to obtain sufficient nutrients and produce more flowers next year.

How to prune Anthurium

The time for pruning anthurium is generally from April to May each year, because the temperature rises at this time, which is very conducive to the recovery and growth of anthurium. It can also be pruned appropriately after the flowers fade.

The old leaves of Anthurium can be cut off. It is recommended to cut off the yellow leaves and the old leaves at the bottom 2 cm from the base, because these old leaves will block other leaves, hinder photosynthesis, affect growth, and consume nutrients.

You can also trim the dead flowers. In order to reduce nutrient consumption and make the plant more beautiful, it is recommended to trim the withered flowers, cutting them off about 5 cm from the base of the pedicel.

Tips for pruning Anthurium

1. Temperature: After the anthurium is pruned, you must pay attention to maintenance, especially the temperature. It is best to keep the temperature at 10-18 degrees, and the minimum should not be lower than 10 degrees. This temperature is most suitable for its recovery and growth.

2. Fertilization: After pruning, be sure to supplement it with nutrients. I suggest using some fermented organic nutrient solution, diluting it 500 times and then watering the soil. It is best to use it once every 7 to 10 days. It can stimulate new buds to emerge, make the leaves green and thick, promote flowering, and the flowers will be large and numerous.
