How to grow orchids to thrive

How to grow orchids to thrive

1. Fertilizer

Although orchid mud is needed for planting at the beginning, the nutrients are still insufficient in the long run and need to be supplemented by fertilizer. The requirements for fertilization are quite strict; too much is not enough, and too little is not enough. First of all, when the buds and leaves are just growing, it is necessary to apply fertilizer mainly containing N elements. Next is the period of vigorous growth, specifically from May to the beginning of autumn, and nitrogen fertilizer needs to be applied every two weeks or half a month. Afterwards, the application may be stopped. However, it needs to be replenished once after the flowers have withered. In addition, pay attention to the specific time, preferably at night.

2. Moisture

Perhaps some friends have heard of this saying, “dry orchid and wet chrysanthemum”. Therefore, the water content cannot be too much. A small amount of water can make it grow vigorously, but too much water will not work. Generally speaking, it is best to control the ratio between 20% dry and 80% wet. It can satisfy its need for water without causing any harm. Note: do not water at noon.

3. Light

Although this plant prefers shade, it will not grow well if it is exposed to too much shade for a long time. In spring and summer, you can provide appropriate shade. However, in autumn and winter, it is best to put it outside in the sun for half a day. This will help the plants grow stronger. Also, in order to ensure that all surfaces receive light evenly, it is best to adjust its orientation after a period of time to avoid differences in growth conditions.

4. Temperature

This aspect is simple and it is best to keep it within an appropriate range. Specifically, it is twenty to twenty-five degrees, which is conducive to its vigorous growth.
