Eggplant planting and harvesting time

Eggplant planting time

Eggplant likes a warm environment, and its growth temperature is around 30 degrees. It is best to sow it in spring and autumn. In spring, it can usually be sown in January and February, and in autumn, it can be sown in July and August.

Eggplant Harvest Time

If eggplants are sown in spring, they can be harvested in April-June. If they are sown in autumn, they can be harvested in October-December. With the development of the times and the continuous improvement of planting technology, the environmental temperature of the plants can be controlled and planting can be achieved in all four seasons. Therefore, fresh eggplants are available on the market all year round.

Key points for high-yield eggplant cultivation

1. Germination: Eggplant needs to be germinated before sowing. Soak the seeds in warm water, then change to hot water to soften the seed coat. Then put them on moist gauze to dry for a few hours. After drying, you can soak them in water again. After repeating several times, the germination is completed.

2. Soil preparation: When planting eggplant, you should choose soil with sufficient fertility, good drainage and irrigation conditions, and loose soil. It is best to plant in areas with sufficient sunlight. First, deep plowing and sun exposure should be carried out to make high ridges of more than 30 cm. Double rows should be planted at a density of about 1.7, and single rows should be planted at about 1 meter.

3. Sowing: Mix the eggplant seeds and fine sand and evenly spread them on the soil surface, covering them with about 1 cm of fine soil. If the soil is dry, water it 1-2 times after sowing to keep the substrate moist, which can also accelerate germination.

4. Management: Eggplant likes fertilizer. Light fertilizer should be applied during the seedling stage. When the fruit is the size of an egg, thin fertilizer should be applied frequently to help accelerate the expansion of the fruit. If the fruit is changing color, stop fertilizing. Just water it appropriately and keep the soil moist at all times.
