How to grow aloe vera healthily?

Aloe vera is a common indoor potted plant. It is a perennial evergreen herb with many varieties, such as aloe vera, Chinese aloe, and Curacao aloe. Caring for aloe vera is fairly simple, and it will grow luxuriantly within a year, and you can even propagate it by division into more pots. Aloe vera not only purifies indoor air, but is also loved for its thick leaves and year-round evergreen appearance. In addition, aloe vera is extremely drought-resistant and can continue to grow even without watering for a long time. Let’s learn together how to grow aloe vera healthily.

1. Soil Preparation

Although aloe vera has low soil requirements and can be planted in garden soil, in order to prevent soil compaction and root rot, it is recommended to prepare loose, breathable and nutrient-rich soil. You can use leaf mold directly, or add a small amount of river sand to the leaf mold to improve water permeability, which will help the roots grow quickly and the leaves grow lush.

2. Water Management

The leaves of aloe vera are thick and will not dry out completely even if they are not watered for a long time, but in order to promote good growth, water should be added in time. When watering, wait until the soil is completely dry before watering thoroughly. Avoid over-drying the soil or watering frequently to prevent root damage.

3. Reasonable fertilization

Aloe vera's growth mainly depends on its leaves, so you should choose a fertilizer with high nitrogen content and apply it 3 to 4 times a month. You can also use fermented soybeans, peanuts or bean cakes and peanut cakes as fertilizers. These fermented fertilizers are also rich in nitrogen and are very beneficial to the growth of aloe vera.

4. Adequate lighting

Light is essential for aloe vera growth. While ensuring water supply , aloe vera should be placed in a place with sufficient light to promote photosynthesis and make the leaves dark green and thick. Aloe vera maintained in this way not only has healthy leaves, but also promotes the growth of side buds.

The above is an introduction to some aloe vera cultivation techniques. If you want to grow a pot of aloe vera but don’t know how to do it, you can consider the above methods.
