How to prepare soil for Anthurium and what soil is best for planting it

Anthurium suitable soil requirements

Anthurium has certain requirements for soil. It grows better in suitable soil. If the soil is unsuitable, it may hinder normal growth. First of all, it must be acidic soil. Alkaline soil cannot be used. Secondly, it must be loose and breathable, with good drainage. It must also have sufficient nutrients. Fertile soil can promote development.

Anthurium soil preparation method

1. Peat soil + perlite

The soil for anthurium can be prepared by mixing peat soil and perlite in a ratio of 1:1. The advantage of this method of soil preparation is that it is more permeable and breathable, and very light. It will not become compacted and is not prone to root rot.

2. Coarse and fine coconut bran + perlite

The soil for Anthurium can also be prepared by mixing coarse and fine coconut coir and perlite in the ratio of 1:1:1. Fine coconut coir is water-retaining, while coarse coconut coir and perlite are used to adjust its water permeability and air permeability.

Steps for changing the soil of Anthurium

1. Removal from the pot: dig the anthurium out of the original pot, shake off the excess soil on the roots, use disinfected tools to cut off the aging and rotten roots, remove the weak roots that are not growing well, put them in disinfected water after arranging them, and put them in a cool place to dry for later use.

2. Potting operation: Add half of the soil in the new pot, put the anthurium in the pot, fill it with soil, compact the soil around the stem with your hands, place it in a well-ventilated semi-shaded place, wait for a week, then water it once and water it thoroughly, and the plant will be able to grow normally.
