How to prepare soil for potted wintersweet and what kind of soil is best for planting

Suitable soil requirements for potted wintersweet

Although potted wintersweet has strong adaptability to soil, it cannot be used casually. It is suitable for growing in soil with high air permeability, looseness and fertility. In addition, the drainage of the cultivation soil must be good enough, and soil that is too sticky should not be used.

How to prepare soil for potted wintersweet

1. Garden soil + compost soil + sand

The soil for potted wintersweets can be evenly mixed with garden soil, compost soil and a small amount of sand. Some organic fertilizer can be added during cultivation. If the soil has poor drainage, you can add some coal ash particles, or put some gravel at the bottom of the pot to make it more breathable.

2. Leaf mold + garden soil + river sand + manure soil

The soil for potted wintersweets can also be a mixture of leaf mold, garden soil, river sand, and fermented manure soil. The specific proportions are adjusted according to growth needs. This kind of soil is loose, fertile and breathable, which is suitable for the growth of wintersweets.

Steps for changing the soil for potted wintersweet

1. Pruning: When changing the soil, you need to take the wintersweet out of the old pot soil, then shake off the soil on the roots, and then trim off those necrotic, overcrowded, and overgrown roots. This will ensure better growth after changing the soil.

2. Change the soil: prepare a new flowerpot, put some gravel or expanded clay pad at the bottom of the flowerpot, fill it with the prepared soil, then plant the wintersweet in the new potting soil, compact the soil, water it thoroughly, and maintain it in a semi-shaded, well-ventilated environment.
