Things to note when transplanting bougainvillea: transplanting methods and management matters

After growing for 2-3 years, the bougainvillea plants become dense, the ventilation in a flowerpot is poor, and the nutrients in the soil have been basically consumed. At this time, the bougainvillea needs to be transplanted. It can be planted in separate plants to facilitate ventilation between plants and provide the necessary nutrients for future growth.

Bougainvillea likes to grow in a warm and cool environment. The climate is mild and the temperature is stable in spring and autumn, which is suitable for the growth of Bougainvillea. Generally, transplanting is chosen in February-April or September-October. Transplanting on cloudy days or in the evening will give Bougainvillea a high survival rate and it is easy to resume growth.

Tips for transplanting bougainvillea

1. Bougainvillea needs sufficient nutrients to grow. When transplanting, you should choose loose, breathable, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. If you prepare it yourself, you can choose river sand, leaf mold and perlite to mix and expose to the sun for disinfection before use. In addition, when choosing a flower pot, you can use an edible ceramic pot or a clay pot, which has good air permeability and is conducive to growth after transplanting.

2. When transplanting bougainvillea, first take the plant out of the original pot, try not to damage the plant's root system, then trim off the rotten roots, old roots and diseased roots, disinfect and sterilize with polysaccharides before transplanting it into the prepared soil.

Bougainvillea transplanting management

After transplanting, the bougainvillea should be placed in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance. Watering it thoroughly at one time can make the soil and the root system fit better. After growing new leaves, it can slowly receive scattered light. Note that the transplanted bougainvillea should be avoided from direct sunlight, otherwise the newly grown leaves will easily be burned.
