The planting time of red onions is from July to September every year. Before cultivation, you need to choose healthy red onion seeds, then soak the seeds in carbendazim for about ten minutes to kill the bacteria on the seeds. After taking out the red onions and drying them, bury 2/3 of the seeds in loose, fertile soil. Seedlings will grow in about 15 days. How to grow red onions1. Planting time Red onions are suitable for planting from July to September every year, and the best time is late August. At this time, the climate is mild and the light is warm, which can make the seeds of red onions grow into seedlings faster. Note that once the temperature exceeds 32 degrees, it is not suitable for planting red onions, which can easily cause sunburn or rot of the plants. 2. Select seeds Before planting red onions, you need to select larger and fuller seeds that cannot be damaged. Such red onion seeds can grow into strong seedlings with strong tillering ability. If you want the red onions to grow faster, you can remove the roots underneath to allow the red onions to absorb water better. 3. Processing seeds After selecting the shallot seeds, you need to remove the roots on the seeds, then wash the shallot seeds and put them in diluted carbendazim for about ten minutes to kill the bacteria on the seeds to prevent the shallots from rotting their roots due to bacteria after cultivation, making them unable to grow. 4. Planting method Red onions need to be planted in soil with sufficient nutrients. When planting, 2/3 of the red onion seeds need to be buried in the soil and the surrounding soil needs to be compacted. After planting, the soil needs to be watered to keep the soil slightly moist. Then wait for about half a month, and the red onion seeds will grow into seedlings. Points to note when planting red onions1. After planting the red onions, water them once to make the bed surface completely wet. When the seedlings are about 10 cm tall, apply a small amount of water and fertilizer. Mix well-rotted human and animal manure and urea for application. This can promote root growth and seedling advancement. Apply fertilizer every 10 days thereafter. Water once every 1 to 2 days to prevent seedlings from becoming dwarfed. 2. During the growth period of red onions, diseases and pests will appear. They can be mainly prevented and controlled through field rotation, timely weeding, cleaning up dead leaves, controlling water and fertilizer, etc. You can also use frequency-vibration insecticidal lamps, supplemented by chemical agents to eliminate diseases and pests. |
