How to grow roses for newcomers (knowledge about how to grow roses well)

How do flower novices grow roses? In fact, we are all experienced people. No one is born knowing how to grow roses. We have also taken many detours and suffered a lot.

So I can understand why some flower lovers always kill their roses. Although I have never killed a rose from the beginning to now, I can also understand this feeling. Why didn’t I kill it?

Because I have collected a lot of information about roses since I started growing roses, including how to prepare soil, how to prune, how to maintain, etc., and I keep learning until I am old.

Therefore, if you want to grow roses well, you need to keep learning, learn from others' experience, and then practice it yourself, and slowly you will gain experience. I am a novice in growing roses and have just started. Here are some methods and precautions for you.

The most important thing for a novice to grow roses is watering

Not only for roses, but also for other flowers, how many people's flowers die due to watering problems? You can check this out.

For a novice who grows roses, I think the most important thing is watering. You must control the intensity of watering, not too much and not too little. Many flower lovers buy a few pots of roses and look at them more than ten times a day. Every time they look at them, they water them a little, always afraid that they will dry out and die.

Regardless of whether it lacks water or not, just water it according to your mood. If you do this, the rose will rot and die after a period of time. The basic principle of watering flowers is "water when dry and water when wet", and most flowers comply with this rule.

This means that you should water the plant only when you see the soil is dry. If you want to water the plant, you should water it thoroughly, with water flowing out from below. It is best to water it twice to prevent it from being wet. You must not allow water to accumulate in the soil, nor allow the soil to dry out for a long time .

Pot soil

The soil in the rose pot is very important. The quality of the soil is directly related to the growth of the rose's root system, and the quality of the root system is directly related to the growth and flowering of the rose.

Therefore, the potting soil must meet the needs of rose growth. In general, the potting soil should be loose and breathable, with good drainage. I usually use coconut bran + perlite + humus soil + garden soil to grow roses .

If these materials are not available, other materials can be used instead. Commonly used substrates for growing roses include peat, coconut bran, perlite, coarse sand, coal slag, river sand, garden soil, humus soil, etc. After the configuration is correct, the roses will grow well and bloom more.

For novices who grow roses, it is recommended that you buy some substrates, or directly buy nutrient soil for planting. This will help them grow well and can also increase your confidence in growing roses. Otherwise, if one plant dies and you buy another one with the same result, you will immediately lose confidence.

flowerpot

It is best for beginners to use root control pots or gallon pots to grow roses . Both pots have their own advantages and disadvantages, but for roses, they are the two most suitable pots. Using gallon pots or root control pots, the rose roots will grow faster and better.

These two pots are a little more expensive, but compared to the cheaper recommended pots, roses grow better and flower cultivation is much easier. You can use other pots later when you have experience.

Daily maintenance methods for roses

It is best to place the rose in a sunny full-sunlight environment for maintenance , provide sufficient sunlight, ensure ventilation, timely pruning, fertilization, watering, and do a good job of disease and insect pest prevention, etc. If these basic maintenance are done well, the rose will grow well and bloom more naturally.
