How to prune roses to make them bloom more (pruning roses will make them more vigorous)

"Give someone a rose, and the fragrance will linger on your hand." Roses also symbolize pure love. I believe everyone is familiar with roses. Many people may be able to accept roses, but are unfamiliar with Chinese roses.

In fact, many so-called roses in flower shops are actually Chinese roses. This is not a lie. There are about 100 varieties of roses, but there are more than 50,000 varieties of Chinese roses, and this number is still increasing.

Roses cannot be compared with roses in terms of color, shape, etc. If you want a beautiful bouquet, you naturally want roses, so many flower shops use roses instead of other flowers in their bouquets.

Rose and rose belong to the same family, Rosaceae. Apart from some differences in leaf shape, they are basically the same and difficult to distinguish.

Common rose varieties include Champagne Rose (chrysanthemum yellow with red), Diana Rose (light pink), Red Super (real red rose), and Corolla, etc. Sometimes we also call these roses Chinese Roses, so the pruning method of roses is the same as that of Chinese Roses.

Pruning roses after flowering

Roses need to be pruned after they bloom. Why do we need to prune the flowers? Because pruning the remaining branches can promote the germination of buds, thereby growing more branches. As we all know, roses, like Chinese roses, will bloom only when new branches grow. Therefore, the larger the number of branches, the more roses will bloom.

If it is in spring, you can cut off the first batch of roses when they bloom and grow buds. The first batch of flowers are usually too small, so you can quickly see standard roses by cutting them off in time. Pruning the remaining flowers can also reduce the breeding of some diseases and pests.

Post-flowering pruning is done all year round, as long as the roses are blooming, this step is necessary.

Daily pruning of roses

Roses also need some daily pruning. If you want the roses to grow well and bloom more, pruning is indispensable. I check the roses and roses twice a day if I have nothing to do.

I check it once in the morning to see if there is anything abnormal, and once in the evening to water and prune it.

What should be pruned at this time? Diseased branches, dead branches, and even some old branches should be pruned, or some branches that grow in a disorderly manner should also be pruned to keep the overall crown width coordinated and complete, and look pleasing to the eye.

For example, if rose branches have black spots or are bitten by stem bees, they should be pruned. Branches bitten by stem bees will have a dent on the top and become thinner in the middle. It is best to prune them, otherwise they may break in the wind. It is better to cultivate new branches.

When we take care of roses on a daily basis, we need to prune them frequently. If there are blind branches, they should also be pruned away to promote bud germination.

Winter Rose Pruning

Generally in winter, not only roses need winter pruning, but roses as well. When the leaves have completely fallen off and the weather has become cold, we need winter pruning.

At this time, we need to prune a little more harshly, and we can cut off half or 1/3 of the entire crown height .

If some people want to prune more aggressively, they can trim off all branches that are more than 20 cm from the ground, but we generally do not recommend doing this, after all, so many branches cannot grow at once.

Winter pruning is very important. Be sure to wait until the leaves fall off before pruning. Do not prune too early to avoid sap flow.

In short, when growing roses, you need to prune them constantly and always keep the scissors at hand.
