How to propagate the money tree

How to propagate the money tree

The symbol of the money tree is prosperity, and that is why it is loved by people. It grows best at temperatures around 25-30℃, so it can be propagated by cuttings from June to August in summer. The operation is simple and has a high survival rate. Choose branches with better growth on the plant, cut disease-free branches with a knife, and cut them into river sand. It will take root after 20 to 30 days.

1. Cutting time

When taking cuttings of the Money Tree, you should try to choose an appropriate time. Generally, it is more suitable to take cuttings around July in summer, because the optimal growth temperature of the Money Tree is 25 to 30℃. The climate is just right at this time, which is conducive to the rooting and growth of the cuttings of the Money Tree.

2. Cutting steps

Before grafting the money tree, you must first prepare some soil suitable for the growth of the money tree. River sand is the most suitable as the grafting soil for the money tree branches. Then, from the vigorously growing money tree, select a healthy and thick branch, cut it off obliquely with sterilized tools, leaving only 2 to 3 tender leaves, and cut off the rest. Then apply rooting powder to the cut, and then place it in a semi-shaded place to dry, waiting for grafting. Then prepare a flowerpot of suitable size, with clay pots and ceramic pots being the best. You can put some gravel or expanded clay at the bottom of the pot to increase the air permeability and drainage of the flowerpot. Pour the culture soil into the container, smooth the soil and poke a few holes, insert the money tree cuttings into the holes, and slightly compact the surrounding soil to complete the grafting.

3. Maintenance

After the cuttings are completed, you can use a watering can to spray water appropriately to keep the soil in the flowerpot moist. Place it in a cool and ventilated place. Pay attention to controlling the frequency of watering to keep the soil moist. It will take root after about a month. After taking root, you can transplant it to a new pot for cultivation.
