What are the cultivation methods and precautions of poinsettia?

Poinsettia Introduction

Poinsettia belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family. It is a shrub that is slightly poisonous and has many branches. Its flowering and fruiting period is from October to April of the following year.

When propagating, the cutting method is generally used. When maintaining, there must be a moist environment, which is more conducive to growth.

Poinsettia cultivation method

When caring for poinsettia, it needs to be placed in a relatively warm growing environment, and the temperature must be kept between 18-25 degrees, and the lowest temperature cannot be lower than 16 degrees.

It also needs sufficient sunlight at normal times so that it can grow well. The soil used for planting should be loose and well-drained.

Watering method

Poinsettia needs to be watered in moderation. If water accumulates, it will cause root rot. Moreover, when the temperature is high, the growth rate will be faster, so the amount of watering needs to be increased.

Fertilization method

Poinsettia likes fertilizer very much. When repotting, you need to apply sufficient organic fertilizer. During the growing season, you need to fertilize every 10-15 days, and you can use diluted liquid fertilizer.

Pruning methods

When growing poinsettia, it needs to be pruned frequently so that it will grow faster. Mainly prune some old roots, dead leaves, etc. The general pruning time is in late June and mid-August.

Precautions for Poinsettia Breeding

Poinsettia needs to be watered regularly during maintenance, but water accumulation should be avoided. It is a light-loving plant, and sufficient light can make it grow stronger, but strong light in summer should be avoided.
