Araucaria is a plant that is particularly easy to cultivate and grow. As a potted plant kept indoors, it does not require too much light. It grows very slowly and basically requires no management. It can only grow a few centimeters a year. The plant shape can be controlled to more than 1 meter, and it can also be grown into a good bonsai. Cultivation method of Araucaria bonsaiThe best growing temperature for Araucaria bonsai is between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius. It has a certain degree of resistance to high and cold temperatures. It likes sunlight very much and can be exposed to the sun more often. However, the light is too strong in summer and must be shaded in time. Water it every two or three days during the growing season. Strictly control water after winter and apply fertilizer once a month during the growing season with diluted compound fertilizer solution. Stop fertilizing in winter. 1. Soil The best soil for Araucaria bonsai is slightly acidic sandy loam with good drainage and rich in humus. It is recommended to mix leaf mold, garden soil, river sand in equal proportions, and add a little base fertilizer. Seedlings should be repotted once in spring every year, and repot and change the soil every 2-3 years for more than five years. To control the height of Araucaria bonsai, spraying dwarfing agent can be used. 2. Watering Araucaria likes a humid environment. In the dry season and summer, to increase the air humidity, you can spray water on the leaves to keep the leaves bright. Watering should be appropriate, not excessive, to avoid water accumulation in the potting soil, so as to keep it moist. Avoid the potting soil being too dry or too wet, which can easily cause the lower leaves to droop. 3. Lighting Araucaria prefers an environment with sufficient light. In northern areas, it can be moved to a sunny place such as a south-facing balcony in May. The pot should be rotated every half a month to ensure that the plant receives even light. After summer, pay attention to shade and avoid exposure. 4. Temperature Araucaria is not very cold-resistant and is best suited to growing in temperatures between 7℃ and 24℃. In northern areas, it should be moved indoors in late September or early October, placed in a well-lit place, and the amount of water should be controlled. Precautions for the maintenance of Araucaria bonsaiThe Araucaria bonsai needs to be repotted once a year, and this should be done in spring after the temperature stabilizes. If the plant is more than 5 years old, it can be repotted every two or three years, and repotting should be done at the same time as root pruning. If the pot is not repotted for a long time, the soil will easily become compacted, which will hinder growth. |
