What fertilizer to use for gardenia

What fertilizer to use for gardenia

The soil of gardenia should be loosened the day before fertilizing, which will help it to fully absorb nutrients. It should be watered the next day after fertilizing to avoid fertilizer accumulation in the soil and causing fertilizer damage. After the gardenia blooms for the last time, you can apply compound fertilizer containing multiple elements, 1-2 times, to replenish the nutrients consumed during the flowering period.

Fertilizer for Gardenia

Gardenia itself is a kind of fertilizer-loving flower. If it lacks nutrition, its growth rate will slow down and it is uncertain whether it can bloom. Therefore, when it is just planted or repotted, you can put some organic fertilizer, bean cake fertilizer or decomposed animal manure at the bottom of the pot to lay a solid foundation for the growth of gardenia. Gardenia in the growth stage can use compound fertilizer with high nitrogen content, so that new buds can be sprouted quickly. At the same time, in order to prevent the soil from being too alkaline, you can also appropriately add some ferrous sulfate solution.

Gardenia fertilization method

You need to be cautious when fertilizing gardenias, and change the fertilization method according to seasonal changes. Fertilize after the beginning of spring, stop fertilizing after the autumnal equinox, fertilize when the buds bloom, and stop fertilizing after the buds crack. Fertilize on a sunny day before the rain, but not after the rain. Apply water and fertilizer when the soil in the pot is dry, but not when it is moist. Apply thin fertilizers frequently, but do not apply thick fertilizers. Fertilize before and after flowering, but do not fertilize when flowering. Fertilize in the morning and evening, but not at noon. Apply more fertilizer to strong seedlings, and no fertilizer to weak seedlings.
