Breeding methods and precautions of alpine rhododendron

Breeding methods and precautions of alpine rhododendron

Alpine rhododendron species are not easy to keep alive, especially artificial maintenance is difficult and the price is relatively expensive, so it is not recommended for novices to buy them. If you cannot keep them alive, the loss will be relatively large.

How to breed alpine rhododendron

1. Soil

The plant Rhododendron prefers loose, fertile, well-drained acidic soil. It is recommended to choose soil with a pH value of about 6-7 for planting. Never use alkaline soil.

2. Fertilization

Alpine rhododendron is very fond of fertilizer. During the peak growth period, it is necessary to apply a thin cake fertilizer once every 10 days or so, or you can use rice water, fruit peel water, etc.

3. Watering

Alpine rhododendron likes moisture and needs to be watered about once every 2-3 days, but it must be watered thoroughly. If it is not watered thoroughly, the root system of the plant will be damaged and the leaves will fall off.

4. Humidity

The root system of alpine rhododendron is slender and its ability to absorb water is not good. It is a plant that is afraid of both dryness and moisture. If you want it to grow normally, it is recommended to keep the air humidity at around 70-80%.

5. Temperature

The most suitable growth temperature for alpine rhododendron is around 15-25℃, and the maximum temperature should not exceed 32℃. It is recommended to place it in a sunny place sheltered from the wind after April.

Matters Needing Attention in the Maintenance of Alpine Rhododendron

Alpine rhododendron is not resistant to high temperatures and will enter a dormant period in summer. At this time, you do not need to apply fertilizer temporarily and you must control the indoor temperature well. Otherwise, the physiological activity will not subside, which is very unfavorable for the growth of the plant.
