Planting methods and precautions for yew potted plants

Before planting yew in a potted plant, it is best to choose loose, moist, well-drained, fertile, and high-organic fertilizer acidic sandy soil. You can choose a mixture of garden soil, peat soil, and sandy soil, and add a small amount of decomposed organic fertilizer.

How to grow yew in a pot

1. Choose a pot: When planting potted yew, choose a larger pot with a darker color. At the same time, the pot should be darker and have good air permeability and water permeability.

2. Soil preparation: When planting yew trees, you must pay attention to the pH value of the soil. It should be slightly acidic. Peat soil and humus soil are both slightly acidic. Clay is generally not recommended. Loess can be used, but you must add river sand and a large amount of fermented fruit tree branches, because the fruit tree branches are acidic after fermentation.

3. Seedling cultivation: When planting potted yew, it is best to do cuttings in spring. Select strong, full and vigorous branches. After cutting, properly treat the cuts and cultivate them with river sand for a period of time. They will take root in about 40 days and can be transplanted after 90 days.

How to plant yew in pots

1. Soil method: Before planting potted yew, you must first prepare acidic soil to ensure the loose texture and air permeability of the soil. You can mix peat soil and sandy carbon soil. After planting the yew, you must slightly compact the land around the roots.

2. Watering method: Potted yew is a plant that likes a fine and moist environment but is not tolerant to waterlogging. Do not water it too much during the seedling stage. Just keep the soil relatively moist. Water it once every 2-3 days during the peak growing season, and once in the morning and evening in summer. However, reduce watering in winter to once a week to ensure that the potting soil is slightly dry.

Precautions for potted yew

1. Light: Yew has certain requirements for light. In spring and autumn, it can be placed outdoors to receive sufficient sunlight. In summer, the temperature is high, so to avoid sunburn, it needs to be placed in a cool location with scattered sunlight. In winter, the temperature is low, so it can be placed indoors for maintenance in a location with sufficient light.

2. Fertilizer and water: The yew plant does not require much water. It should be watered once every 7-8 days during the growing period. During the growing period, phosphorus fertilizer should be used as the main fertilizer and potassium fertilizer as the auxiliary fertilizer. Diluted fertilizer is most suitable for plant growth.
