Camellia potted planting method

Camellia potted planting method

1. Cutting

Cuttings are usually taken in spring and autumn, and are best done in September. Choose branches with good growth, cut the bottom at an angle, keep the 3 leaves on the top, and remove all the others. Soak the incision in indolebutyric acid solution for 10 minutes, take it out and dry it before cutting. Choose sandy soil or vermiculite and spread it in the pot. Water it after inserting the pot, and it will take root and sprout in two months.

2. Docking

The grafting can be done between Qingming Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival. Choose tea oil tree as the rootstock, cut the trunk of the rootstock and the camellia branch obliquely, then combine the two incisions and wrap them with plastic film. It will heal in two months and then be placed in the shade of a tree for cultivation.

3. Leaf cuttings

Leaf cuttings are mostly used for some precious camellias, and are usually carried out during the rainy season. Choose mountain mud or river sand as the culture soil, take one-year-old leaves and insert them 2 cm into the soil, water them enough and place them in a ventilated place. It will take root in three months and sprout in the spring of the following year.

4. High Plug

Gather the small branches that need to be pruned and ring them 20 cm away from the top. Then tie it with plastic film and put in sterilized peat soil. After a week, ring-bark the lower part of the film again.
