Can crabapples be propagated by cuttings?

There are many varieties of crabapple, both double-petaled and single-petaled. The flower colors include red, white, and pink, and the leaf colors include green, copper-purple, and dark brown. It is a common greening plant, and many flower lovers also grow it at home. Common propagation methods include division, cutting, and sowing.

Begonia cutting propagation

Begonia can be propagated by cuttings, which is a common and most used propagation method. It is generally used in nurseries for seedling cultivation. Begonia has a strong reproductive ability and can be propagated by cuttings of branches or leaves. Soil or water can be used as the cultivation medium.

Begonia cutting time

Begonia is suitable for cutting propagation in spring and autumn. The temperature is warm and the air humidity is suitable for rooting of cuttings during this season, especially in May-June and September-October each year. If greenhouse conditions are available, cuttings can survive all year round.

Begonia cutting propagation method

1. Prepare the soil: Before transplanting the begonia, you need to prepare soft, breathable and well-drained soil. You can clean the river sand and expose it to the sun for 1-2 days as the substrate for transplanting the begonia.

2. Select cuttings: From the mother plant of Begonia that is growing well, choose thick and healthy branches, ensure that there are 3-4 nodes, the length is 8-10 cm, cut the top into a round plane, and process the bottom into a horseshoe shape. Remove some leaves, retain 1-2 tender leaves, soak in rooting water for 10-20 minutes, and place in a cool place to dry.

3. Cutting method: Insert the prepared cuttings into river sand with a spacing of about 3-4 cm. Slightly compact the soil and place it in a cool place for maintenance. Do not water it immediately to avoid wound rot and inability to heal. Wait for 3-5 days to water it thoroughly. If the temperature is controlled at around 20 degrees, it will take about half a month to take root and survive.
