How to care for lavender during its flowering period

How to care for lavender during its flowering period

1. Avoid moisture

When lavender is in bloom, the maintenance environment should not be too humid, and a dry and cool environment should be created for it. Therefore, the amount of watering must be controlled during the flowering period. It is best to decide based on the dryness and wetness of the culture soil, and wait until the soil is dry before adding water.

2. Lower the temperature

Lavender has good heat resistance, but in an environment of 15-25℃, the plant can bloom better and more. However, the temperature in summer will be higher than usual. If the temperature is too high, it is likely to cause the plant to have fewer flowers or even no flowers. If the temperature has reached 30℃ or 35℃, take measures to cool down.

3. Increase fertilizer application

During its flowering period, additional fertilizer should be applied. It is recommended to use special flower fertilizer, which must be diluted with water before use, otherwise the fertilizer concentration will be too high and will burn the roots. At this time, it is mainly necessary to apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, which will help it bloom. Do not apply nitrogen fertilizers, which will easily cause the plant to grow too tall and not bloom.

4. Proper pruning

Even during its flowering period, it needs to be pruned appropriately, usually by cutting off branches that are in poor growth condition and do not bloom, because these branches will consume nutrients in the potting soil and hinder its flowering.
