How to grow orchids in pots

How to grow orchids in pots

1. Soil

When growing orchids in potted plants, you should choose acidic soil, as alkalinity will affect its growth. It is best to test it with pH paper before planting to ensure the pH value. When preparing the soil, just mix garden soil and leaf mold.

2. Temperature

It likes a slightly cool environment, neither too high nor too low a temperature, and the best temperature is between 15 and 25 degrees. Pay attention to cooling down in summer and spray more water. In winter, the temperature should be kept above zero degrees, preferably between 3 degrees and 8 degrees.

3. Watering

The amount of water should be changed according to different growth stages. Water frequently during the growing season, but be careful not to allow water to accumulate. Special attention should be paid to controlling water in winter; the soil only needs to be slightly moist. If it is already dry, wait until the weather is clear and then add water appropriately.

4. Lighting

It is shade-tolerant but afraid of direct sunlight, especially the summer sun, so it must be shaded to avoid sunburn. Normally, just keep it in a place with scattered light and try not to expose it to direct light.

5. Fertilization

The growth of orchids cannot be separated from fertilizer. Fertilizer must be decomposed before application. Special fertilizer or organic fertilizer can also be used. Note that it must be a low concentration. When applying fertilizer, apply small amounts and multiple times to avoid burning the roots. Also, be careful not to splash any on the leaves.
