How to keep daffodil seeds

Narcissus generally refers to Chinese narcissus. Its seeds grow in its small capsules. Although the plant has seeds, its seeds are generally infertile or shriveled, so it is mostly propagated through bulbs.

The daffodils in daily life are all highly sterile varieties. The plants have capsules and seeds, but seeds are generally not used for reproduction. Instead, the bulbs are retained after the plants dry up each year and planted the following year.

Narcissus seed propagation

Daffodils are propagated by bulbs. The best time to sow them is around September in autumn. Before planting, it is best to check whether the bulbs are rotten. They will germinate 4-5 days after planting and bloom in about 40 days.

Narcissus seed planting steps and methods

1. Prepare the soil

If you want to use the potted method for daffodils, it is best to prepare slightly acidic sandy soil for them. You can use river sand and peat soil to mix it, and also spread a layer of organic fertilizer as base fertilizer to provide nutrients for the plants.

2. Sowing

Now put half of the soil into the pot, then place the bulb in it, fill the surrounding area with soil, and ensure that the soil can fully wrap the bulb. Later, control the ambient temperature at around 10-15℃, and then place it in a semi-sunlight environment for maintenance.
