How to grow succulents for beginners

How to grow succulents for beginners

1. Choose potting soil

When planting succulents, you need to choose a suitable flowerpot. Different pot materials require different management methods in the later stages. If you use a ceramic pot with poor air permeability, water less often. If the ceramic pot has good air permeability but cannot retain water, the watering frequency should be increased. In addition, the soil is also very important, and it is generally breathable and loose.

2. Planting in pots

After the soil is prepared, put it into the flowerpot, but not too full, leaving space on top for planting succulents. When planting, just bury the roots of the plant in the soil, and leave all the leaves exposed to avoid rotting.

3. Add auxiliary materials

After planting, you should put some gravel on the top. It is not only beautiful, but also can fix the plant and prevent it from falling over. After placing it, press the soil gently to make its roots fit better into the soil.

4. Post-maintenance

Don’t rush to expose newly planted succulents to strong sunlight. First, keep them in a well-ventilated and bright place. Strong sunlight will burn the plants. In addition, be careful not to water the plants immediately, but wait a day or two before watering them again. When watering, you should water finely, and in the later stage as well. Do not water directly with large amounts of water to prevent root rot.
