How to grow Forsythia

How to grow Forsythia

1. Breeding environment

1. Watering: It likes to grow in moist soil. If the soil is dry during maintenance, water should be added in time, but be careful not to allow water to accumulate to avoid root rot. Watering is usually done every two or three days. When the temperature is low, pay attention to reducing the amount of water.

2. Light: It likes sunlight very much, so it should be placed in a well-lit place during maintenance, but it should be shaded in summer and not exposed to strong light. Only with sufficient light can it grow more vigorously and its flowers will be more colorful.

3. Temperature: It has strong resistance to high temperatures and cold weather. There is no need to worry about temperature issues during maintenance. It can withstand high and low temperatures above 35 degrees and minus 5 degrees. However, an environment between 13 and 25 degrees is more suitable for growth.

4. Fertilization: During the maintenance period, fertilizer should be applied every half a month during the growing season. Use diluted liquid fertilizer and do not apply it in winter and summer.

2. Breeding Methods

Forsythia can be propagated by sowing, layering and cuttings. Its seeds are hard. If you want to sow them, you need to germinate them first. After germination, you can plant them. The seedlings will grow out of the soil in about half a month. Layering is done in spring, just bury the drooping branches in the soil. The most commonly used method is cutting, which can be carried out in autumn or spring. Use strong young branches as cuttings. Pay attention to the method and subsequent maintenance, and the survival rate can reach 90%.
