Taboos for growing cyclamen in winter

Taboos for growing cyclamen in winter

1. Place it outdoors

Cyclamen is a very cold-resistant plant and is not easily damaged by frost even in the low temperatures of winter. However, it still cannot be placed outdoors over the winter, because the temperature difference between morning and evening outdoors is too large. The temperature will drop in the evening, and the temperature at night will be even lower, which will freeze the plants. This point must be paid attention to and should be moved indoors for maintenance.

2. Too much watering

The most suitable temperature for maintenance is between 18 and 22 degrees. Growth will stop in winter when the temperature is low. At this time, the plant absorbs relatively little water, so do not water it excessively, otherwise it will not be absorbed, leaving the roots in the soil vulnerable to frostbite. In severe cases, the roots may rot, eventually leading to the death of the entire plant.

3. Excessive fertilization

During the maintenance period, fertilizer should be applied once before winter. Organic fertilizer can be used to improve cold resistance. Stop fertilizing after winter, otherwise the plants will not be able to absorb the fertilizer and generate a lot of heat, which will burn the roots, cause rot, and affect growth. Or it may cause the plant to grow too tall and not bloom properly when the flowering season comes.

4. No Light

When growing in winter, it should be placed in a place with sufficient light. The light at this time is very gentle, so you can safely let the plants bask in the sun. If placed in a cool place, it will easily get frostbite or fail to bloom normally during the flowering period.
