Cultivation methods and precautions of red lilac

Growth habit

Before introducing the cultivation methods of this flower, we must first talk about their growth habits. This plant originally grew in jungles on hillsides, beside streams, and by water, at altitudes above 900 meters. Nowadays it is common to grow it in our home yards. They like sunshine, warm places, and places with enough water and sunshine. Can tolerate a little shade.

Planting location

It is best to plant them in a sunny location. Although it is mentioned above that they are somewhat shade-tolerant, if they are placed in a shaded location for a long time, their growth will be weak and they will not bloom much. Therefore, the location you choose must have good drainage capabilities and the terrain cannot be too low. If the terrain is too low, it is easy to cause water accumulation, and if it is not dealt with in time, the entire plant may die.

Watering

Just after planting, you can choose to water it once every ten days, and after each watering, you must loosen the soil to ensure their growth. In North China, the best time for them to grow is from April to June. During this period, they must be watered two or three times a month, and each time they must be watered thoroughly. Pay attention to drainage in July and water the plants sufficiently at one time before winter in November.

prune

If the plant has grown into a large seedling of three or four years old, it is time to start pruning it, cutting it off 30 cm above the ground, so that the flowers can bloom better in the second year. In spring, cut off weak and dry branches so that the remaining branches can grow better. After flowering, the remaining flower spikes should be cut off so that the flowers can bloom better the next year.
