After autumn, the flower market will be occupied by chrysanthemums. In addition to meat, there are also various kinds of chrysanthemums in the autumn flower market. In addition, there are many types of chrysanthemums, and the dazzling array of chrysanthemums can completely occupy the market.

Chrysanthemum planting technology

1. Cutting propagation

Generally, cuttings are used for propagation, including foot bud cuttings in late autumn and early winter, softwood cuttings in April, and bud cuttings in autumn. Rare varieties can be propagated by axillary bud cuttings.

In the high temperature season, it is necessary to take shading measures for softwood cuttings and axillary bud cuttings. Generally, shading is carried out for about 7 days. After the seedlings have recovered, water them with diluted human manure and urine once, control water and fertilizer, remove the axillary buds in time, and retain one main branch to bloom.

When the temperature begins to drop in autumn, apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers every 7 days, and remove the buds in time after they appear to promote flowering.

2. Seed propagation

Seed propagation is generally carried out around the Qingming Festival. At this time, the temperature rises to above 10℃. Choose loose culture soil for seedling cultivation. Cover it with a layer of plastic film to increase the temperature and retain moisture. It will germinate in about 20 days.

If the soil lacks moisture, you can spray water continuously to increase the moisture content to ensure that the seeds can absorb enough water, but not too much, as this will lower the temperature and delay germination.

Transplant the seedlings in late spring, apply sufficient base fertilizer, cover with shallow soil, maintain a plant distance of 3-4 cm, and water sufficiently to ensure survival.

After the seedlings have grown, apply nitrogen fertilizer once every 10 days or so, and once every 7 days after the beginning of autumn. Apply fertilizer for the last time after the flower buds are formed.

3. Division propagation

Propagation by division is generally carried out in April and May. The whole plant is dug out, the seedlings are separated, and transplanted with roots. However, the lower leaves are prone to withering and dying in the later stages of growth, and the flowers are small.

Chrysanthemum cultivation management and maintenance

1. Choose a large flower pot

When growing chrysanthemums, you need to choose a larger flowerpot, because the chrysanthemum plant is very large in shape, has many leaves, the flowers are also large, and it will produce many roots.

Therefore, you should choose a large flower pot, which is beneficial to the roots of the plant. In addition, you should choose a flower pot with holes at the bottom to facilitate ventilation and drainage, which can help the chrysanthemum grow better.

2. The soil should be breathable

When cultivating chrysanthemums, you should pay attention to choosing soil with good air permeability. Ordinary soil will be fine. You can also mix sandy soil and humus to plant chrysanthemums.

3. Watering should be appropriate

Chrysanthemums bloom in September. Water them more often before the flowers open because more water is needed to satisfy the flowering of the plants.

Usually water is supplied according to the soil condition of potted plants. Water when the potting soil is dry. Chrysanthemum is also a plant that is prone to water shortage.

4. Fertilization should be correct

Don't use too much fertilizer when growing chrysanthemums. Just give some fertilizer at the end of the growing season and before the plants bloom. Fertilizing before flowering can provide the plants with the nutrients they need to bloom, making the flowers large and colorful.

5. Propagation by cuttings

When propagating chrysanthemums, you can use cutting method, branching method and grafting method. Usually, cutting method is used more because this method can make it grow more and faster.
