Tips for growing azaleas

Tips for growing azaleas

1. Adequate sunlight

Flower plants usually prefer light. During maintenance, they should be placed in a place with good sunlight and exposed to more light, which is more conducive to their growth and flowering. But be careful to provide adequate shade during the flowering period and avoid direct sunlight, otherwise the flowering period will be shortened.

2. Watering in moderation

During maintenance, water frequently and keep it moist. Usually water twice a day in summer and add more water. In spring and autumn, watering should be done every two days, but be careful not to allow water to accumulate. Excess water should be drained out in time during the rainy season. Low temperatures in winter will stop growth, so water should be controlled.

3. Reasonable fertilization

Before flowering, it is necessary to add an appropriate amount of phosphorus fertilizer to promote the germination of more flower buds and increase the number of flowers. After the flowers fade, apply diluted nitrogen fertilizer to replenish the nutrients consumed during the flowering period. Stop applying fertilizer in time in winter to avoid fertilizer damage.

4. Pruning after flowering

After each flowering, you must prune in time and cut off the remaining flowers, otherwise it will continue to consume nutrients and easily cause nutritional deficiencies. If diseased branches are found during routine management, the dead branches should be cut off in time to concentrate the nutrients and improve the ornamental value.
