The planting time of lotus

The planting time of lotus

1. Planting time

Bowl lotus is not very dependent on the season, but has high requirements for water temperature. It can be planted when the water temperature is above 16℃. It can be sown indoors in all seasons, and the best time is around Qingming Festival. Too low water temperature will affect seed germination and cause great harm to the seedlings, and may even freeze to death.

2. How to plant

1. Seed treatment: The seed shell of water lily is very hard and needs to be ground before sowing. Place the dimpled end of the seed on the ground and rub it until the seed coat is broken. Be careful when grinding so as not to damage the seeds inside and do not remove the shells.

2. Soak the seeds to germinate: After the seed coat is broken, the seed buds will grow out. Soak it in warm water at 20-30℃ and change the water three times a day. It will sprout in about a week. After sprouting, place it in a sunny place, add water, and wait for the roots to grow.

3. Planting: Wait until the water lily seeds grow roots, then you can plant them. Use river pond mud as the substrate and press the seeds with their roots facing down into the soil. Then start adding water. The water depth should be between 5-15 cm to ensure that the leaves are above the water surface.

4. Subsequent maintenance: After planting, place it in a sunny place and provide appropriate shade at noon to avoid strong light burning the seedlings. As it grows, gradually increase the thickness of the water layer. Add a little nutrient solution to provide nutrients for its growth.
