How to grow jackfruit

How to grow jackfruit

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: It likes a relatively high temperature environment and will not grow well in a low temperature environment. If the temperature is around zero degrees, it is likely to be frostbitten, so it is not suitable for planting in the north. The average temperature for normal growth is around twenty-one degrees. There is no need to cool down in the high temperature weather in summer, and it can fully adapt to it.

2. Watering: Ensure sufficient water. If there is insufficient watering during the flowering period, the newly opened flowers will fall off in large numbers. If the soil is dry for a long time during the fruit development period, the size of the fruit will be affected. At the same time, the fruit flesh will be very thin, dry and without moisture.

3. Light: Growth cannot be separated from sufficient sunlight. It is a full-sun plant. If there is not enough light, the plant will grow too tall, the side branches will absorb most of the nutrients, and it will not bear fruit normally. When breeding, it needs to receive eight hours of light every day so that it can grow without being affected.

4. Fertilization: The amount of fertilizer needs to be determined according to the growth conditions of the plant. Nitrogen fertilizer needs to be applied during the spring growth period to promote the growth rate. During the fruit development period, farmyard manure should be used in combination. This will make the fruit grow larger and the branches and leaves of the plant will not turn yellow due to lack of nutrition.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: Sowing and cuttings are two important methods. The best time for sowing is in summer, and large-scale planting can be carried out. For cuttings, choose healthy branches, then place them in a cool and ventilated place. Wait for the wounds to dry before you can start cuttings. Keep the soil moist after cuttings.

2. Pruning: When the seedlings are young, mainly prune the main trunk to allow the side branches to grow well. After adulthood, prune the side branches of the plant and cut off useless branches.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Diseases: Soft rot is the main disease, which mainly harms fruits and flowers. It is recommended to spray thiophanate-methyl solution to control it.

2. Pests: Egyptian cotton scale may occur, and you can use omethoate solution.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: It is non-toxic and is a highly nutritious fruit that can be cultivated.

2. Can it be grown at home? No, this plant is usually grown outdoors in the south.
