What is the suitable temperature for growing beans?

Temperature requirements for growing beans

Beans like a warm environment. Too high or too low temperatures will hinder the growth of beans. The temperature must be kept above 10°C to germinate smoothly. Therefore, when sowing, the temperature should be maintained at 10-30°C after germination. If this temperature requirement is not met, the beans will not germinate or grow slowly, affecting pod formation.

Bean growth temperature

Green beans are highly heat-resistant and require high temperatures for growth and development. The most suitable temperature for growth is 20-25℃ , but they can also pod normally at temperatures above 35℃ in summer. However, green beans are not frost-resistant, and their growth will be inhibited at temperatures below 10℃ for a long time. The germination rate and germination potential of green beans are lower when the temperature is 35℃ , and they grow more vigorously at temperatures of 25-30℃ after sowing .

Bean planting time

There is a saying among the people, "Plant melons and beans around the Qingming Festival." The Qingming Festival is a very suitable time to grow bean crops. In the northern region, under natural conditions, the planting time for beans is in spring, and the sowing time is generally around late March.

The climate in the south is warm, so sowing can be done early, usually in February and March. The growing period of beans is generally about two months. Mature beans can be eaten in summer and can be harvested until October. If grown in a greenhouse, beans can be planted all year round.
