How to deal with hydrangea withering

How to deal with hydrangea withering

1. Proper pruning

When the flowering period is over and the flowers wither, proper pruning is needed to remove the remaining flowers. If they are left on the plant, a large amount of nutrients will be consumed and the appearance cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, they need to be cut off immediately, but they do not need to be cut too long. The flower branches can also be shortened appropriately to facilitate flowering and growth next year. After the flowering period is over, many dead branches will appear due to the effect of metabolism. These need to be pruned off after discovery. The pruning position should be chosen above the healthy buds to ensure the normal growth of the healthy parts.

2. Timely topdressing

The blooming of flowers consumes a lot of nutrients, so after the flowering period, appropriate topdressing fertilizer is needed. Fertilizers containing phosphorus and potassium can be added to replenish the nutrients consumed previously and avoid signs of weak growth. However, it should be noted that the concentration should not be too high, otherwise it will be difficult for the plants to absorb and adapt.

3. Spray water

If you notice that the soil in the pot is turning white and dry, you need to water it in time. Do not allow the plant to lack water. Add an appropriate amount of water to the roots to ensure that the roots can fully absorb it. Then spray a little on the leaves of the plant to ensure that the leaves also absorb enough water.
